The Mecklenburg County Courthouse is located in Charlotte’s Uptown. It is a beautiful building and more and more couples are choosing to celebrate their new beginnings at courthouses around the world. Not only does a courthouse wedding signidifcantly reduce costs but it affords couple an intimate celebration they would otherwise not get with a large party.
One of the things I love about courthouse weddings is that you can get wedded at a ceremony and still have a celebration at a different venue with family and friends.
I was privileged to capture this gorgeous family as they began their journey as a legally wedded couple. The bride had reached out a few months earlier and we had talked about her expectations for her special day. She shared that she wanted wedding photography before the ceremony at the courthouse itself. We chose Marshall Park and the Courthouse itself as the locations for the photos. Due to the courthouse available times, we would need to shoot during the day and high sun. Most photographers prefer not to shoot at this time but I knew we had to make it work. We got lucky with our locations as well-it was not crowded and we were able to get great shots of the Charlotte Uptown skyline as well as the beautiful Marshall park.
The couple also had their teenage son join them for the photos and we were able to get some great family photos of all three that i know they will treasure for a lifetime.
Are you thinking of a courthouse wedding ceremony? I am a wedding photographer in the Charlotte metro area and would love to discuss your wedding plans and how I can provide photography coverage for your big day.
