Want to know some trends wedding photographers love and some they can do without? Read on for more!

Hi there! Can you believe we are less than 15 days away from 2024? Isn’t that amazing? Weren’t we just ringing in 2023 and now we are closing the books on the year? Phew!

How has your year been? Did you achieve all that you set to achieve in 2023? I will be transparent and say that I didn’t. But I grew in so many ways that I did not plan for and that is a win in my book.

However your 2023 has been, i hope you take some time before it ends to spend some time re-calibrating for 2024 and also being grateful for 2023. I especially am grateful for both new and return clients that have utilized my services this year. I even got to dabble into some food photography and I was very happy with the feedback from my first try.

One area I wanted to grow more in this year was Wedding Photography. I wanted to shoot more weddings but did not get as much as I would have liked so I am looking forward to 2024 and all the couples I already have on my books and the more I am hoping will book with me.

For 2024 brides and grooms, I wanted to share some of the wedding trends I am loving from 2023 that I am sure will carry over into the 2024

– First Look with Parents : The First Look trend is showing no signs of slowing down and now we are seeing more brides in particular request a first look with their dad or mom or both. These are some beautiful moments-photographing a dad as he sees his little girl as a bride for the first time. I am looking forward to incorporating this beautiful moment into a couple of my weddings this year.

– Elopement vs Traditional Weddings: With inflation and record high pricing for wedding services, most couples are choosing to elope or have smaller weddings. Last year most of the weddings I covered were elopement or small weddings. Think Courthouse and a nice dinner afterwards with friends and family or getting married at a destination with just you, your spouse, a photographer and the officiant. Which style of wedding you are looking for, i would love to chat about your photography needs. My wedding photography packages are easily customizable to fit your needs and dreams.

– Focus on the couple: More and more couples are planning weddings where they are the main focus. In the past the focus used to be families and guests. But more couples are incorporating their personalities into their big days and I am here for this. Whether this means serving your favorite pizza as the main dish or carving out an hour for just you and your spouse to enjoy during the wedding, this trend is one I am loving. Weddings can be such a big deal that we all forget who it is about-the couple. So be sure to let your photographer know those parts of your wedding that you especially want captured or maybe not captured.

Are you getting married in 2024 or 2025? I would love to chat about your wedding photography needs-trends or not. Your wedding day memories are special and deserve a notable investment of time and excellence and I would love to help preserve them. While I am based in Charlotte, i am available for travel across the US and even abroad and it would be a honor to cover your big day.
